Ornament Card

I love to use punches in more than the way it was built for - making it more valuable. I made an acorn using the Ornament Punch from this post which I CASE from Ellen Kemper.

This is another Christmas card that I selected for my Christmas Card Class. It's really simple and still beautiful. The only thing you have to remember is once you stamp, let the image be completely dried before you proceed. Otherwise, it get smeared! I add another ornament punched out with the Ornament Punch and pop up with Stampin' Dimensionals and the card is completed.

I CASE the little Elf from Sophia Landry about a year or so ago. I also used the Ornament Punch for his face and hat. I added a piece of candy in between and got a cute little gift.

I got another 3-D gift idea using the Ornament Punch - so stay tuned! Meanwhile, have fun creating with punches!

5-Petal Poinsettias

I got a card with punch art today. This card was inspired by Connie Stewart and it was one of the cards that I selected for my Christmas Card Class.

I use the 5-Petal Flower Punch that I used for the Angry Bird's feather from the last 3 posts to create the Poinsettias. I am also using one of the stamps from Four the Holidays stamp set.

Angry Birds - the Pig

So did you enjoy looking at the red Angry Bird? Did you wonder why I got an extra wrapped Hershey's Nugget in this post? It's for the Pig!

I know he's not anyone's favorite! My son, Ryan, said that when you got a good guy in a game, you gotta have the bad guy too!

Ryan said it doesn't look exactly like the Pig. Maybe with Green Galore card stock (retired), it would look more like him. I used Lucky Limeade and Certainly Celery card stocks. I got more of these on my mind, but we'll save it for next year. I got to stick to Christmas theme now.

Have a great day!

Angry Bird Nugget Holder

I couldn't resist Black Friday shopping this year! My sisters started midnight and they asked me to join them. I rather sleep and wake up early! The lines weren't so bad at all so I was lucky!

When my son and husband first started to play Angry Birds, I was wondering why they don't name it something nicer. My son explained to me that the pigs stole their eggs so they got angry. OK, they are cute, but can't they be Adorable Birds instead? It seems like it's only a game so they don't think too much into this kind of emotion. I like something happier, but I guess it won't sell as much! My husband teased me and asked if I am going to make a happy bird that looks like Angry Bird? Hahaha! I'll just go with what it is!

Isn't he adorable on the sling shot? I see a lot of Birthday Party with this theme lately and I thought I can also make it for Christmas with different wrap as shown on this post. All I have to do is add some cords and I can hang him up on my Christmas tree like these critters that I made a couple of years ago!

Happy shopping!

Pines and Poinsettias Christmas Cards

This is another card we made for the Fun and Fast Christmas Cards class. I CASE this from Connie Stewart.

Here are a couple of my versions of this stamp set. They are Clean and Simple. The first one was a Make and Take on one of my workshops and they love it! I got this stamp set for free with the Christmas Keepsake Box in August. After I finished the box, I love using it!

Add Top Note Die and Holly Berry Bouquet DSP.

Merry Christmas Card - Fun Fold

This is one of the cards we made for the Fun and Fast Christmas Card class. This card has the greeting from Delightful Dozen stamp set. I made a few different projects from this set already. I CASE this from LeAnn Greff - just using different stamp sets.

I actually started with this one using the stamp from a Hostess stamp set Warmest of Wishes from the Holiday Mini catalog. This is the same fold that I made for the Butterfly Easel Card.

Christmas Card Class was fun!

We had so much fun making these Christmas cards! I'll be posting the details of each cards the next few days.

These are new stampers (except for Paulina) and they enjoy making these cards in less than 2 hours. Funny thing is, all of them kept all my tools and ink pads in perfect condition, except for one. Guess who ink my VersaMark ink pad with red? No problem, I just wipe it off with baby wipes and refill it. The slight mark left behind is no problem for future use!

Even this little lady loves to crank the Big Shot and sign her name in the back of the card! She is SO CUTE!

CASE III: Discover and Share

I need to finish this up before it's too late. :) My husband took my camera out of town that week and a couple of pictures were still on the camera. I am continuing from CASE I and CASE II.

While making the above Gerber Daisy Bouquet for my son's teacher last Spring, I noticed that I needed 1-1/2 sheets of card stock in order to make just one flower. I had a lot of wastes and indentation on the 5-1/2" x 5" of card stock that I cut with Daisies #2 Die. So I took out my ruler and found out that I can cut my card stock with a paper trimmer in a way (as shown below) that I only needed half as much material - 3/4 sheet of card stock. You can click on the picture to enlarge it.

So why CASE? When you don't feel too creative, it's easier to just copy something to get started than to re-invent the wheels. I once read this comment from Eleanor Roosevelt and I think we can apply that to paper crafts, too. :)

“Learn from the mistakes of others.
You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself. ”
― Eleanor Roosevelt

So what happen when you can't find something to copy? Well, I ran into that situation a few years ago. My wonderful friend/former co-worker, Claudine, who totally supports her smart and kind daughter, Ashley, asked me to make a flamingo for her. I couldn't find one to copy so I made one. I discover it wasn't too hard since I have been doing so many CASES (no pun intended!), it was easier to create something from a picture that I got from the Internet. At the time, I was glad to share it through my upline, Becky Roberts' blog at Inking Idaho. You can find them here and with this link.

One more thing I want to share with you! Starting Monday, November 21, 2011, and run through Wednesday, November 30, 2011, Stampin' Up! will have an Online Extravaganza, our annual sale to kick off the holiday shopping season. There will be some items on sale for 24 hours only (November 21, 12:01 AM - 11:59 PM [MT])-so make sure you don't miss the first 24 hours of Online Extravaganza!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Cheers!

I made this gift set with a small composition notebook first for my team member's promotion and thought the color is kind of masculine. So...

I gave her this one instead. Congratulations, Monica, on your promotion! She said she loves both!

Paulina's Birthday

I got a couple of things to share with you today. I got a lot of requests asking me how to make the Spice Cake Purse. So click here for the updates on how to make the purse.

Last Saturday was my younger sister Paulina's Birthday. She flew up to the Bay Area so we can celebrate her "milestone". She joined my Fun and Fast Christmas Card Class(more on that later) and we had Dinner at Bijou Restaurant. It was delicious!

I made her this Beautiful Butterfly card which I CASE from Meg Loven. Paulina loves it!

On Monday, we got together again with our youngest sister Kathy to make these bird houses since she loves the Bird Houses that I posted here. They get to choose their favorite colors. Look closely at the purple bird house, Kathy puts shadows on her leaves. So cute!

Paulina is proud of her creation.
So cute, don't you think?

Three in One Box

I saw a Two in One Box from Angie Juda awhile ago and thought I remember making similar folds a few years ago for another box. So here are my boxes using the Spice Cake DSP. These can hold a lot of candies!

Loop it through a book ring.

Add a ribbon for the handle. This one can hold up to 12 Hershey's chocolates!

How about some Chocolates of the World? Yummy!

I hope you enjoy the use of Spice Cake DSP! The paper is simply gorgeous!

Spice Cake Purse

Today and tomorrow, I am going to show you a few gift ideas that I fold the paper without the need for cutting into it.

I've made a lot of these purses last year for my nieces and son's teachers for Christmas. For this purse, I change the dimension a little bit since the gift card fit too snugly that it was hard to put in. The dimension of this one ends up being 3-3/4" x 2-1/2". I can add little treat inside as well.

Edit for update: I got a lot of requests asking me how to make this purse. I can't remember exactly where I saw it first, but I searched and found a tutorial on YouTube for you. The change I made was instead of scoring the two sides with 1-1/4", I scored mine at 1-1/8" so it's a little bit wider. I hope this helps!

Ghirardelli Box

Good Morning! My kids were out of school yesterday and we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. They loved everything there, especially the Enchanted Seahorses and Sea Dragons! They are beautiful and fascinating little creatures!

Today I want to share with you a little box which was inspired by Kay Sha on Stampin' Connection. It holds 3 Ghirardelli Chocolates inside. I use the Spice Cake DSP, Snow Burst and Leaves #2 Die.

This would be perfect for a Thanksgiving favor.

Enjoy!

Spice Cake Composition Book and Bookmark

I love the Spice Cake DSP! It is so beautiful! I cover the composition book with the DSP and also create a flower bookmark for it. Isn't it pretty? The bookmark idea was originated by Becky Roberts and it has an elastic hair band so it can give a little stretch.

Enjoy!

Autum Splendor Center Step Card

Step cards have been around for sometimes now and I don't know who started them, but lately I see a lot of different versions of it. Different cuts and sizes of cards and boxes mean that paper crafters have to do a lot of basic Math to calculate too! For today's card, which I got the idea from Julie Davison, I use Autumn Splendor again with Spice Cake DSP and SU! markers. I also decided to use Old Olive CS instead of the Pear Pizzaz CS since it gives a more richer color and yet still coordinates well with the DSP.

I hope you enjoy all the different ways to use Autumn Splendor stamp set! You might see me using this stamp set again in the future, but starting tomorrow, I will show some 3-D ideas using the Spice Cake DSP.

Enjoy!

Autumn Splendor with Spice Cake DSP

I've been seeing a lot of Baby Wipe technique out there using the new stamp set Gently Falling which is a 2-step stamp set that has solid images. I challenge myself to get the same effect with Autumn Splendor stamp set that I have on hands. I use ink refills to get similar effects of Baby Wipe Technique on these cards. I want to coordinate my colors with the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper.

More Mustard

Pear Pizzaz

Pool Party

Don't you love the effect that Crystal Effects have on the leaves as raindrops? Thanks for stopping by!
